This is the first mention of a prison, other than local jails and
Military detentions, that I've come across in this area, but there
must have been some larger ones. Your ancestor may have been
in a local jail, however. I don't see a prison listed in the Meyer's
gasetteer entry for Crone a.d. Brahe, aka Polnisch Krone, aka
Koronowo.

It would be Königliche Strafanstalt. Or Royal Prison. Now it only
means it is under the guardian ship of the king. He would sustain it
with money. You did not get the royal treatment there I'm quite sure.

Strafanstalt is a prison.

Found this through Google:

Crone a. d.
reizender Umgebung. In Cronthal, unmittelbar bei der Stadt befindet
sich eine grosse Strafanstalt für Männer.

In Cronthal, not far from the city is a large penal establishment for men.

There is a postcard image floating around, but not currently on
auction, that includes (probably a small) image of the prison.

I have found two death records in the FHL INTL Film [ 1569307 ]
(Crone an der Brahe / Koronowo) catholic church records for men
listed as 'Sträfling' - prisoners. The place of their death was very
difficult to read, but it's close enough to be the same - anyone who
can make something out of: 'Strafanstalt Königl. ?t?a kanction' or
'Königliche Strafanstalt Prafslau' as a place please share it. One
died in 1840 and the other in 1842. The death record stated their
names, ages, cause of death and legitimacy, but no parents or next
of kin, and the deaths had normal registration numbers. Nothing about
what they had done but both were in their thirties and died of disease.
